4 years from now.

There are a few things that I know about this election.

Wednesday morning, half of the country will be disappointed, Bob Barr will not be president, and we will all be happy that political commercials are over. We will also be wondering, what is going to happen now?

Well, this is what I think will happen:

If Obama wins: (very likely to happen)

No Surprises - Taxes will rise, spending will keep climbing, Energy independence will begin to become a reality, and the economy will slow.

Big Surprises  - We will establish permanent military residence in Iraq. (I.e. West Germany in 1940's. We are still there) With a Democrat Congress and Obama in the White House, UHC will not pass, and civil liberties will continue to erode.

Obama will raise taxes on most taxpayers, not just the over $250,000, oh I mean the over $200,000, OOPPPS I mean the over $150,000... Hey, that's not really the rich is it? Obama has already changed his tune several times on just exactly who’s taxes he will raise. The answer will be most everyone that pays taxes.

Obama has already changed much of his position on Iraq. This post invasion posture looks so much like the U.S. aid of Germany after WWII. We will have permanent Military presence there including permanent bases. I believe that this is an outcome that neither a Democrat nor a Republican can avoid.

Even though there will be a Democrat Executive and Legislative branch, Universal healthcare will not pass. The 700 billion dollar Bailout took care of that. That is more than we have spent on the Iraq war... We don't have the money. Thanks Wamu!

Obama has spoken eloquently about change and civil liberties, yet has ridden the fence about gay marriage and prohibition on drugs. We will find out soon enough that a Politician is a Politician.

If McCain wins:

No Suprises - Defense budget will go up, We will establish permanent military residence in Iraq, Tax cuts will be extended, spending will keep climbing, and the Economy will slow.

Big Surprises - The biggest surprise is that McCain won. Energy Independence will begin to become a reality, even more bail outs will be announced, and a Democrat or two in the cabinet.

I have spent much less time posting criticism about McCain for a few reasons. He was never a very conservative Republican, and much less has been expected of him than what we will expect from Obama. All in all, it is just boring to talk about McCain. So, I will try not to make this a snoozer.

Of all the Republicans, McCain has been the least likely to continue the massive reign of the Big Oil companies. Alternative energy is on it's way, and either Senator will do fine here.

He has no interest in slowing the erosion of our liberties, so there is no surprise there. At least he hasn't implied that was a priority for him.

McCain gave us a glimpse of his very liberal economic ideas when he suggested we reopen the National Mortgage Company from the depression era. I can smell more bail out money coming.

McCain has long been slandered as a friend of the Democrats. That has been a constant in Republican primaries. If elected, we may see a Democrat or two in the Cabinet.

If it seems that many of these are alike, it's because they are. As a Libertarian, I have a unique perspective on the two major parties. They are much more alike than they are different. I truly believe that the only true change will come from a Libertarian. Since I know that a Libertarian will not get Elected, I hope that we have enough votes to make Democrats remember our concern for Civil Liberties, and the Republicans remember our want of smaller Government, and fiscal liberties.

About Yell

I'm just a regular guy that considers himself a student of politics, economics, and the general state of our Country. I love to engage in conversations with others that may see things a little differently. I also believe that there is never a reason to be impolite, so while you may yell at me, I will never yell at you.
